Different things.
This past month has been rather dry in terms of things to write about. I could write about the election, but anyone that read my AIM profile from 3 November already knows how I feel about that. So I have two options: bland replay or emo introspection. Let’s try both.
Last Friday, after watching Napoleon Dynamite at the cinematique, we—“we” being Christina, Howard, Matt, and I—decided that we needed to play Risk: the Classic Game of Global Domination. That’s right, DOMINATION! We jumped into the car, ready to zoom over to Wal-Mart and buy ourselves a board game, when we suddenly realised something: the Wal-Mart here closes at nine, and it was eleven. That’s right, we don’t have a Super Wal-Mart, or a Mega Wal-Mart, or even a Wal-Mart Grande. In fact, the only stores (that we know of) in C-ville that are open 24 hours a day are 7-11 and Harris Teeter. Bummer. So we had to wait until Saturday.
[Show a clock moving really fast to suggest the passage of time.]
Early in that November morn’ (about 1 in the afternoon, probably) we set out on our journey to find Risk. First we tried K-Mart, because of their extra-low prices (and relative closeness to our dorm.) I was also in search of a radio alarm clock, and Howard a blank VHS tape, but first we perused the board game section. We were very disappointed to find that they only had some Lord of the Rings version of Risk, which was not suitable for playing at all. Dejected, we continued on our quest.
Now, Wal-Mart is not close to our dorm, not in the least. I am quite sure that I have never frequented a business establishment that far north on Route 29. In fact, I would venture to say that if you went much further past the Wal-Mart, you would reach the end of the world. Nevertheless, we arrived, and found a modern version of that classic game of global domination: Risk. I also found a beanie to keep my head warm, because it is rather cold out these days. As far as I have control over this, I am going to attempt to live where the temperature never drops below 50°F, at which point I won’t need this beanie, but for now I live in Virginia, so the beanie is necessary. N-E-WAYZ, we had a hard time finding a single VHS tape, and by that I mean, we found plenty of 10-packs, and 20-packs, and 6-packs. Finally, in a random corner of the electronics section, we found a single VHS tape for about 90¢. Only one more item: an alarm clock radio.
Don’t ask me why I need an alarm clock radio. I already have several other items which can produce noise at a predetermined time. But I wanted an alarm clock radio, dammit, and that’s what I was going to get. So I bought this. Apparently it is out of stock because of my purchase. And it does a lot more than wake me up for class, it plays CDs and I run my iPod through it as well. Did I mention that I have an iPod? I’ve had one for about a year. They are very nice, although mine has much more storage than I need (10G, only about 3 of which I use.) But I digress. We returned with our treasures, and played Risk. And I won.

Look, I took over the Indian Ocean!
OOF, I need to go study for my ALG test, so I will have to save that emo introspection for later. Sorry kids.
